Implantology
Implantation is a progressive technology and a unique dental procedure that recovers lost teeth. The implant is a titanium post with an external thread that screws into the bone. The implant is not a complete tooth, but restores only the root of the lost tooth. An abutment is attached to the implant to restore the crown of the tooth, and a crown (if one tooth is lost) or a bridge (if several teeth are lost) is then attached to the implant.
It is important to know:
Titanium is a bioinert, biocompatible material that has phenomenal integration.
The amount of time it takes to perform the procedure depends on the complexity of the clinical situation. If stabilization of the implant in the bone is sufficient, then we can load it with a prosthesis immediately on the day of surgery. Otherwise, the implant is sutured under the gums, and time is taken to strengthen it in the bone. On average,it takes 8-12 months from the moment of implantation till the final rehabilitation.
Types of crowns on implants:
There are two types of crowns on implants: removable by a dentist (screw-retained) and fixed with special cement (cemented).
The screw-retained crowns are fixed to the implants by means of a screw passing through a through hole, which is closed by an aesthetic light-curing material. The main advantage of such a crown for the dentist is the ability to remove it and check the condition of surrounding tissues.
Cemented crowns are fixed with special cement. They are more aesthetic, but it is not possible to remove them during the inspection.
The dental team that is always involved in the rehabilitation of the patient consists of surgeon, prosthodontist and periodontist. The high level of expertise and work of each doctor in their highly specialized field provide a comprehensive approach to treatment and allow to take into account all the nuances for long-term implant service. We use the techniques that have proven effective in clinics around the world, recommended by leading experts and supported by evidence-based medicine. Implants are available only from well-known manufacturers who claimed their name in the dental market decades ago and take responsibility for their products in in the form of warranty obligations.
When using abutments, our specialists prefer individual abutments. Unlike standard ones, they are made uniquely for every clinical situation.
The patient can discuss the crown shape with the doctor in advance at the stage of preliminary digital modeling of the smile design and make his own adjustments.
If necessary, a specialist in gnathology is involved in the physiological positioning of the teeth when closing and movements of the mandible. This avoids possible problems with the temporomandibular joint.
Only high-strength and aesthetic prosthetic structures are manufactured with the use of the latest innovative developments in the field of dental prosthetics: pressed ceramics (E-max), zirconia crowns.
What if you do not recover your lost tooth (s) at once?
With the loss of even one tooth, complex changes begin to the tooth-jaw system: there is an overload of teeth, the adjacent teeth are moved towards the defect, the chewing of food becomes insufficient, the joints suffer.
Prolonged absence of the tooth leads to tissue atrophy, which may lead to the need for plastic surgery of hard and soft tissues. The faster the patient addresses the problem, the easier and more economical the solution will be.
The best option is to plan the implant before the tooth is removed, then the surgeon has more options to maintain favorable conditions for the implant, or the implantation is performed immediately after the removal.
